October Tropics Jungle fruit trees look bare and sorrow Their uncollected sweetness is rotting away Puffy rain clouds that hover opaque waves Are wondering where to drift next this fall Droplets that drizzle on leaves� steaming ground Feel unable to quench a waning day�s heat But when midnight unleashes the inevitable storm Eerie voices whirl and scream The roaring rain hammers my steel drum roof And waters rise with croaking frogs When the curtains of night cede to mellow aurora light Orange pillars rise to a new hot day �2005 by Franz L Kessler �
