Poem Artwork

Once upon a grassy knoll...they did meet. Ballerina toes romancing
Jock in jeans and tennis shoes...beginning or crossing
paths ending.

So much said about opposites attracting each other...or
truth belie.

Petite and dainty in her world...a jock in sports, teams to beat...as
different as art of dance...accepting roses and bowing to accolades
than high school letter jacketed boys at pep rallies...with cheering
fans, to win the game...heroes to be their fame.

Perhaps, a future foretold of the black and white removed...
with technicolor to be added later, like in old movies restored.

On reels of fame, at an Orpheum Theatre, restored in faith
for the...here and now...~ Love Story ~ once lettered on the marquee...tear drop testimonial of love meaning never having
to say~Sorry.

The ominous opening phrase rather sets the scene for this piece. The territory is well established but your acute observation of the subject brings the poem to life. The closing "Love Story" reference indicates that all did not end well. Ballerinas are aptly named iron butterflies so we may assume that she survived and prospered.

I appreciate the way you have presented the theme of "love" through your verses here, Vivian; substance to ponder upon. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Fine point of view, Vivian,
the bringing together of differents
and their magnetic attraction.

A tender and nostalgic pleasure to read!
I love to hear the words "I'm sorry" though, because they are charming.
Blessings,
Christine

Love is all to often inexplicable, Vivian. Yet, in the end,
me thinks, love attracts love. -gene.

There is not a doubt that opposites do attract and then, after they are wedded each one tries to turn the other one into what they weren't attracted to in the first place. Boggles the mind.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
