Hanging proudly and blowing in a
gentle wind...was The American Flag
on my porch yesterday for all to view
When I decided to take some trash
out...a family of another nationality
was walking across the street, and
greeted me with...
"How you doing today?"
I responded well...but I decided
to converse with a question....
Do you know what today is?
The smallest child crossed
the street to come closer to
me with a firecracker in hand
Again I asked the question,
receiving no response...I
offered such....Today is our
Independence Day for freedom
to be The United States of
America...Our National Birthday!
The only following response was
from the Mother...a call to her
daughter to come back as they
continued walking past my house
While a teardrop fell yesterday
upon my face

VIVIAN THANK YOU FOR THIS POWERFUL REMINDER..ANNA
and a commanding way of versing it
This being My true story...it was not
hard to verbalize my feelings
So, for the ones who chose to read
and comment...I gladly give You a
Heartfelt thanks
The Red, The White and The Blue
is stained with such tears for
the freedom that we enjoy...may
our future citizens not let the
ones who died for that cause
be in vain
Lady Vivian
i have a self-imposed policy of not
commenting on other nation's politics
or citizens' political views, but i'd just
like to say this is a moving work and it's
written with heart.
