Exultation for the Master's Relative Strokes

Poem Artwork

What would Picasso have to say?
about his painting....At Rest....
of his mistress, Marie-Therese'
sleeping, if he were here today

I know not what, but perhaps
a poet would verbalize it today
~Now I lie me down to sleep
for another thought to pen~

Yet, it is much, much more than that
for it to be visual poetry at its best
strokes of sensuousness with fluidity
streaming to merge with one's senses for
the reality to feel and touch one another

As if one could be on that golden moon
that circles upon her wrist
illustrating fusion of the lover and the
artist after their union
becoming virtual poetry in motion taking
on a life of contemplation ending with
impressionistic owning of oneself
at last a comforting place ~At Rest~

"What would Picasso have to say?" That Vivian made beautiful words out of the stylized painting presented here for our pleasure. Yes, a lovely virtual poetry experience encapsulated in a painting by one of the Masters. Well done!

Your admiration of Le Repos is manifest in this poem. I suspect Picasso would enjoy reliving past pleasures through the medium of your words, after all he was more than twice Marie-Thérèse's age when he painted the picture.

Somnolence? no... no... not somnolence. Satiety in replenishment in repose in resplendent satiety... you capture well a sense of some of the rich sensations inspired by this exquisite painting... thank you so much for sharing your vision of Picasso with us.

You chose a good painting for the subject of love and comfort, Vivian. We don't know what the master would say, but knowing him it might not be what you expect. Matters not, it only matters what the poet and the subject says, and I say you have said it well.
