Green of Summer gone
the dragon flies no more
but October sings it's own
rhapsody of the rise and fall
in it's dark reddish and brown
Free of intense Summer heat
harvest moon or rain drops not yet
gripped by Autumn's crisp chills
as the trees stand bare to face
the whirling winds of their own leaves
Yet, single the leaf on vacation's beach
with no need to fight for a place to sit
just echoes in long cresting waves of
memories being washed ashore to
savor once more before stored in
life's treasure chest for later recall
For a time Opal bestows it's worth
amazing are azure skies for nature's
breath taking visual powers
Midnight scales of Libra weighing
in from Ancient Greece and Rome
as glowing gems of faith and hope
Cold nights take over, ending with
dark shadows haunting it's last day
Come morning, October must give way
waking up to a November's golden sky
for a dreamers horn of plenty alive with
goodwill wishes for thanks of the giving
holding You ever so tightly in my arms
