In the scheme of things
who are we so minute
to laugh, cry, love, play
in a universe so vast
time means nothing
of One to sink or swim
But within to traverse
one day at a time in
awareness retrospect
of mind altering waves
with a tuck and roll out
surmounting that crest
overcoming a drowning
Prevail the scheme of things
secure exalting beaches
One being our Own in Universe
(c) Ushered within Grains of Time

At times, we all live in our own universe, fearing to leave this warm nest to test unchartered waters. Sometimes we need a nudge as your poem so clearly illustrates. Well written.
You give us much to think about and embrace Vivian.

may each day bring yet another in a series of "surmounting that crest" crescendos for you my dear Vivian... thank you for yet another in an increasing sequence of illuminating poems blossoming forth from an evocative and insightful 'pen'... from one "I" being "our Own in Universe" to another... IOU... (will repay with my next poem)...
Peace,
Roger

That "tuck and roll out" line is an inspired description of waves hitting the shore. The vastness of the universe theme has been explored many times but this has a pretty original slant.
When you really look at the grand scheme of things, we are but a droplet in time. We must live life to the fullest, don't wait for tomorrow, tomorrow may never come....
A grand observation of the scheme of thins, Vivian, and an indepth treatment of what exactly we ought to do about it. You are right on with each layer you uncovered.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
