Poem Artwork

Friday five o'clock magic into wine and dancing
circle of forever friends meeting for moments of
pleasure worthy of lifetime treasures surrounded
by glitz and glamour aspiring upward tasting desires
flowing in effervescence of sparkling bubbles

In a little backless dress so sensuous with essence
of strawberry oil still present from candle light
bathing inviting enchantment for disco floor so
electric of lights in glowing faces amid hypnotic
music resounding it's mystic of scented fields for
whom will do the picking

Handsome and tall he approaches confident in
stride abundance of shiny black hair so neatly
trimmed the mustache..enraptured now in the
luring brogue of the Irishman requesting my
presence by favor of a dance

Arms quite comforting, my breasts against his
manly chest run my fingers through his wavy hair
owning awe of feelings knowing time is the essence
for two so attracted as ebbing nights fleet the
spring of our youth

Strawberries now scent the obliqueness in her

empty heart forever changed by the vacancy
of their strawberry field the reality in their
tomorrow left uncultivated..by and by the
memory remains inherent with his taste
from my scent

Champagne, strawberries, a little black dress, a disco floor and a handsome Irishmen asking for a dance. All of the elements of romance and fine poetry are to be found in your poem. Alas that it ended sadly, but the writer is a success in bringing us into the realm of romance and sensuality. Fine job, Vivian.

They tell us a good poem transports us to the time or place or emotion being described and this piece certainly has that quality. It has a kind of seventies/California feel to it. I could just taste that scent. That "the reality in their tomorrow left uncultivated" line is pretty inspired too.

there is much to see in this tasty ascent from the Friday evening dance floor to ... "let me take you down cause I'm going to Strawberry fields forever..." and beyond... because this scent suffuses all in a synaesthetic sweep so redolent of the phrasing, yes, I think I've got it now, dearest Vivian... the phraseology so Dylan Thomas in its richness and resonance... this is more than a taste, Vivian, it is a symphony for the touch that embraces as it embodies embrace... truly your heroine's heart here is even fuller than it is empty, and that pretty paradox puzzles the will as much as it teases the heart of a mystery that might puzzle God himself: the way of a man with a woman! Proverbial and pristine, this poem is a pure joy to read!

Be well and at peace with all.

Roger

Tastes, scents, and champagne. Bad things come in threes. None of these three qualify for bad however, well except every time I drink champagne my head hurts later. Strawberries speak of love, the blooms will come. Patrick

Sexy write with all the right words and situations, man and woman, dance floor, animal attraction, alas and drat the ending is sad, but the memories still bring a smile to her sadden face.

That taste was heaven sent. I've always loved strawberries and dancing. I had a girlfriend who was and remains a professional dancer. I am literally allergic to perfume, but she always wore just the right scent to help me melt into her and never forget.

Fond memories well written. May I have some of that champagne?

Ron
