Driving life's skills of twist and turns leaving
confinement of circles with which to navigate
a cozy cove in forward or reverse in lieu of
Learning every U you make will only find you
at an unclosed end forever looped in a roller
coaster ride of ups and downs with no closure
Right on red after brief stops only to
turn forever looking both ways but not
to live dangerously left turning on yellow
instead of waiting for the changing to
the green lending to the safety of a
straightaway all paved ahead...be not
color blind approaching an intersection
Avoid the narrow and set your course to
widen horizons steering the causeways
only to avoid a straight line passing by
the driving forces observing the rules
whereby sign post along your path dictate
oncoming speed of traffic ahead to heed

If only we had the courage to avoid the narrow path and drive towards the wide horizons, if only we could be constantly in control of our life's wheel. Fine, original thinking at work here.
One can never get away from oneself. It's the driven probability and that fact will never change, but direction can always be altered.

there is a bent in this road trip that feels driven, and I know you mean well by steering this course, but drive will only take you so far, and when the road ends, the adventure of a pathless would embodies yet unimagined vistas beyond the rivers of dreams I have got to find far from R.E.M. sleep on automatic for the people pilot... I'll meet you there, dearest Vivian... don't forget to validate your parking.
Ah, you speak of driving freeways and narrow roads, as if we are settled behind the car of choice, but I realize, as will everyone, in fact you pointed it out in the first verse, that the driving herein is concerned with the driving of life's choices. Well conceived and written
