Pensive deeming my thoughts amid the clutter rumblings of thunder further resounding my soul while lightning streaks my heart as I read your "dear john" letter wreaking stormy weather Quartz of crystal Winter as pristine fallen snow was our love..what went wrong in the acclamation to Spring budding our forever Summer affirmations Space and time you say, wait for me...shall I? or move on to another plane dancing in the rain Empty is my lap of you but for worthless words with an absence of understanding A dilemma I can not see myself for waiting yet not wanting to proceed with bare feet (c) Absence of Understanding 11March2012 Vivian L Dawson

though the feet may be bare, what of the soul... this verse hits the notes of a soul whose revelation conceals much more than it reveals... and amid the lap dance of "worthless words" lies an understanding that underlies the colour of the "absence of understanding"... gone through this poem like Merwin's "thread through a needle--everything...stitched with" the colour of that absence... hence the dilemma at the close...

a fine conundrum of a relationship is herein depicted...

You have voiced a very common predicament here, to stay or to move on. Somebody should have worked out the odds by now to help those of us who dither. I'm sure the safe choice is to proceed, bare feet or not.

Great gods of love, I thought I had received a Dear John a few days ago, but it was just a combination of her not making herself very clean and me reading it with disbelieving eyes. You title make perfect sense to me, Vivian.
