By her settee in her garden sublime
is a lovely Lady
in her best finery
As she glides by with grace
you can hear her say
with all her Southern Charm
"Ya'll Come"
to the Plantation Ball
as before...Splendid Amour
You see
that's the way things were done
in the Old South
East of The Mighty Mississippi

As a recipient of southern hospitality I can say you have captured the languid essence of that part of the world. Mint Juleps? I prefer some of that sippin' whiskey stuff.

One of the places I would truly love to visit some day...the old South is so well portrayed in so many movies and books that it sounds like a must see place for all writers.

Yes, indeed, it 'twas done in that manner, Vivian. I'd come to the ball if they were serving cheap California burgundy, I never developed the taste for mint juleps. Heehee
What a wonderful view of such romantic times. For I am such a romantic, and you paint this picture well to see. Although I must admit one thing in your title, I tried a Mint Julep once Bah, that was nasty. Smiling
