Poem Artwork

Ideogram

A hood of red with
sweet child bearing
gifts to grandmother's
house she goes
admiring the flowers

Lurking in the woods
another kind of red
with evil he stalks
says the Brothers
Grimm so dark as
a delicious meal
she would make

Just an old grim
tale you say? Or
lessons learned
extracting a timeline
for an offering today

If little girls are made of sugar and spice and all things nice I can't say I blame the Big Bad Wolf. I'm sure her Mom told her not to talk to strangers; Mom knows best as we all know. Your retelling of the old tale reminds us that it is more than just an old grim tale. (Neat pun too)

LRRH survived (to womanhood)
and the wolf was slaughtered..or so
the fairytale says, but was he really?
i have the feeling he's round the next tree;
well delivered, Vivian, and clever and wise

There will always be someone lurking in the shadows to do harm to little or big girls as you have shown here so cleverly by your desriptive words:"Or lessons learned extracting a timeline for an offering today." A highly visual poem... in our minds or in reality. Good writing!!

Noticing the image, Little Red Riding Hood seems to have all grown up! There's got to be a moral here somewhere?

An in your face modern remake of the famous old tale. These days the wolf would have managed to eat the pretty little thing and she might even have enjoyed it. Reality TV next week.
