Just how sensual can a rose be when
it has thorns as given to me in an empty
existence of poignant broken hearts
holding on to each other living in darkness
Seeing the rose of red so differently
now never too late sparking boldness
preparing new beginnings of amber
sunsets accentuating azure waterfalls
choosing to step outside of the shadows
following experience of the river to the
sea's vast waves of insight into depths
of openness

Your poem and its illustration certainly has more than a hint of an erotic frisson.
You are right of course, it is never too late for sparkling boldness and amber sunsets.
The rose has it's own beauty to the beholder
then the thorns can be overlooked... much as
life, take the tender beauty of it and set
aside the unlovely barbs
There are always thorns in life, some darker than others, some more serious than others, but the sweetness of receiving a rose with it's soft, velvet petals outweighs the thorns attatched to this lovely flower. One can always remove the thorns of a rose, but not so easily accomplished when the thorn is one that cannot be removed. Your depth of words thrilled me! A great write, Vivian.
a rose given sensuously never pricks with its thorns and its velvety smoothness gives love where it touches as well as elevateing the sense of smell with its fragrance

.as the sages of the ages say. A rose is a rose, yet if it's left in the road and crushed, only then does it share it gift of fragrance.
Start each day with an empty cup. Go to sleep with an empty bowl. Therein lies the depth of the unfathomable heart.

Love this, Vivian. Roses and their thorns. But a new day is arising as surely as the new beginnings of amber and stepping outside the shadows. Joyous news.

The amber and the azure colours, love cherishes the heart.
Opened petals of a red rose to embrace the love. Lovely poem.
