they think I talk funny and it's rather cute
they pick up on my lilt and hang around just a
wee bit longer to get me to talk more and perhaps
more candy lol

There is something extra beautiful about this short writing. It comes from the two ways the last four words can be heard: "unscathed I pray" could be read: I pray the Halloween story leaves us unscathed, or it could be read: there may be a Halloween story to tell, but I'm unscathed by that, I am in my prayer. I guess the latter would necessitate a comma after unscathed, but still....... Pretty neat. ~~ Diana
My favorite story this Halloween was a lovely little Trick or Treater dressed as an Angel, who showed up on our front steps six times. On her last visit, I heard her whispering to her Mom - "That was my favorite house!" I guess we had her favorite candy!
I pray every year for the safety of the children on All Hallows Eve. Their was an amber alert for a young boy missing yesterday afternoon in Virginia; I pray that he is unscathed and found soon.

Halloween has become very big in the last decade...adults enjoy it as
much as the children and it is the second bigest holiday after Christmas. Thanks Vivian.
