They say most of us wear a mask of some kind or other; are we trying to set ourselves free, you are probably right about that. Of course the mask is off when we fall in love, or it should be.
Masks are rarely used to conceal who we are, but to suggest who we long to be. For example, of or relating to a period.

Wearing masks which we have all experienced...somehow I cannot picture you ever having to wear a mask. I think you have never pretended to be someone you are not...
....whether intrepid, incognito, or ineffable as your baby blue butterfly, your memories may mask more but seldom less than the intrigue your poetry alludes to... an essentially inimitable combination, at once clever and artistic... designed to dazzle with the terse verve of Vivian's verse... wonderfully wrought!
