The nation honors its veterans once a year.
On Memorial Day It’s not much. Just a simple white marble marker. Stark white with a small flag Stars and Stripes Waving with the breeze. The marker is straight Standing at attention. A final salute to the Veteran Sleeping below. Each veteran Male or female Earned the privilege Serving the country they loved. In times of peril In times of peace A country called. They answered And now respose In honor The country thanks them For their service Once a year On Memorial Day Richard Oldenburg Sgt. USMC 1953-1956 May 30, 2011
