This poem is an attempt to answer the age-old question, why does God allow suffering?
Show Yourself, God. Where are you God? Why do you hide Why do you turn from your people's pain? Why ignore the tears that are cried? Show yourself, God. Where were you God, when the earth shook so much That tsunamis and floods hit Japan? Why did you still refuse your touch? Show yourself, God. Where are you God, for the Middle East folk? Why do you let the slaughter go on? Why do you watch as your children choke? Show yourself, God. What do you do in the place where you dwell? Watch and smile and think it's a joke While your children on earth live in hell? Show yourself, God. Why don't you reach down and put it all right With a flick of your wrist, a turn of your head? Why don't you care about human plight? Show yourself, God. Who are you? Where are you? What is your name? Where is the love you tell us you have? What does it mean, that fatuous claim? Show yourself, God. My name is: I am. Say it now, say it slow. Continue to say it and hear what you say. I am. I am. I am you. Now go. Stir yourself, Man. I've said it: I am. But I don't understand. What sort of a name can that be? It doesn't sound anything great or grand. Show yourself, God. Still you don't get it? What more can I do? Why can you not understand? You are in me and I am in you. Stir yourself, Man. You mean – are you saying - I can't breathe your name Without including myself? I fall to my knees in sorrow and shame, For it isn't you. I am to blame. I have done nothing to ease the world's pain. Forgive me, God.

Once ago, Janice, I had similar discussion with God and shortly after I was urged to read someting from the Bible; then, I opened it at Psalm 46 and verse 10 which said "Be still and know that I am God" I was ahamed, and from that day I've learnt that God is still at work and He knows best. God bless.

Powerful ending. He gave us free will and original sin gave us the rest. But if you look at a crucifix, His dying for us was pure love. He also knew suffering and pain., rejection and persecution.

Since we do not have God�s perfect knowledge on any future events, we still have to play the game of life as hard as we can and as best as we can, since we never know what God may do next. Food for thought on the sovereignty of God. Pray for forgiveness and counterbalance.
