A creepy little Tale
My bedroom was a graveyard
Bones scattered round my bed
I found that trees grew through the walls
And rustled near my head
I looked at them, bewildered
My quilt clutched to my chest
The fabric smelt of damp and mould
I flung it from my breast
My heart was racing wildly
My skin began to crawl
What manifested whilst I slept
To bring about this pall
My papered walls were crumbling
And tumbling to debris
I heard a voice that softly moaned
And realised it was me
A chilling mist had gathered
I watched with dread and awe
As earthy roots squirmed through the cracks
Appearing in the floor
Something wrapped about my head
It grabbed my ankles too
It pinned me down and trapped my arms
Then 'It' came into view
I drew my breath to vent a scream
My chest felt taut with fear
I uttered such a muffled sound
I knew no-one would hear
I struggled hard and screamed again
But all to no avail
The best that I could manage was
A thin and feeble wail
'Its' cold and clammy mud-caked tip
Then clamped across my face
It searched and found my fear-parched lips
And held my breath in place
The room began to spin and fade
Whilst panic surged within
Until, at last, I lay quite still
Sweat chilled upon my skin.

Come to think of it, I have that one where I'm spinning in a cold sweat and flying to the floor almost every night these days. Most disconcerting.
