She penciled his name Into her book of notes While open-eyed dreaming in algebra But her frumpy teacher Named Mr. Grumpy Ripped the page From her book of notes And shouted "Concentrate on your mathematics And not on some nickel-less schoolboy"
She fingered his name Into the mud late last night But the sun awoke With a funky attitude And dried up her mud-work Causing his name to crumble Into countless dirty pieces
She carved his name Into a Michigan cherry tree But the owner of the tree A tobacco chewing granny Thought she was trying To steal her sweet cherries Chopped the tree down In a fit of old-age rage
On her prom night Robed in regality She awaited his arrival But arrive he never did Causing tears to rain on her face Making her makeup run Onto her pretty dress Staining it With ugly spots of sadness
In weepful voice She said to herself "This wasn't a schoolgirl crush Or real love Rather it was the shattering Of my young heart"
It was at this moment That she awoke From this fright-filled dream
Only she wasn't a schoolgirl She was a mature woman Still wondering, what's a girl Got to do, to find real love
Wow! We all wonder - don't we? Men alike, I should think. I believe it will eventually come when its time. I love how you combined the humour and the strong message. I have posted one or two - almost on the same page - Is It Love Lust or Infatuation, and the other one I Am Not Alone - speaking of the latter; coming when its time. Wonderful write!
Well it ended up different that what I thought that it would but it was still a really neat poem. Oh some of us give up on that school girl crush and find a real love.

I find it awesome that a guy can climb into the skin of a female and learn what makes her heart speak. Well done.
