Poem Artwork

she came into my life
when I least expected it
things end
and lovers leave
and you know
that life goes on
if someone is stupid enough
to walk away
I’ll be smart enough
to let them go
otherwise
makes me look and feel weak
when I put on
my begging shoes
oh for sure I understand
the pain
residing within
if I had never known her
sweet, sweet love
would never have felt this insanity
she laid on me
and I would never feel
this awful pain
still I know me
the real me and the
ability to deal
with pain
physical or otherwise
I will bounce back
but it is hell to pay conjuring
up that will
I know that I have

she hurt me
but it will not last

Ending an adventure with someone and parting is sadly difficult....But if we have a positive outlook we will be able to look forward to the arrival of the next adventure...

Jerry, this made me sad, but in another way made me feel you had some satisfaction. I've known so many pains in my life and that pain would always remain inside of me if I let it. But I can let go. We all have to let go. I learned how to do that quickly in my life, but sometimes when I least expect it, the pain creeps back inside. Your work has always been stellar to me. Keep on writing. I wish we could go back ten or more years to the days of the book club, but that's impossible. But it was fun. Remember?

Do not stop writing.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank God pain eases over time. Your poem captures the heartache of lost love.

I like the way you can write about it in a very positive way. The best way of overcoming loss is to put it behind us as soon as possible and move on. If we let that ache get to us, we can do stupid, and sometimes dangerous things. Best to just allow it to happen… Forgive and forget.

Heart wrenching but still filled with strength and hope along side the pain. Lovely work, Jerry. Deeply felt.

Lost love is a terrible thing, as you describe here in down-to-earth terms. Moving on is the best option, as you have also noted here. Yes.

Reading this reminds me of needing to move away from a guy who would hurt me when he was drinking. Sad, Jerry. I hope in time or in another lifetime you will be happy.

Love ya!

Move away from what hurts you is a smart thing. Now all you have to do is to let your feelings go as well.

There's one thing that can be said about the human heart and spirit. They both have great resiliency. We can live to love another day.

It's good to move on from what hurt you, yes... I agree, but never forget what it taught you. Enjoyed your thoughts, Jerry. Peace... r
