then walk down into Khufa's tomb.

A day at Cairo's museum
a night laser show at Sphinx.
Couscous with dinner and a show
where belly dancers gyrate so.
Beautiful cruise ships navigate
down mother Nile's wide flowing course.
From the decks you see fertile plain
a mere green strip in the desert.

After Memphis stepped pyramid
its on to ancient Thebes, Luxor.
Karnak Temple by day and night
obolisks, spires, columned temples.
By pharaohs of all dynasties
entombed in valleys king and queen.
Queen Hatshepsut's temple complex
with bright colors, tiled collonade.

Farther down river Kom Obo
and its crocodilian mummies.
Then disembarking by new Aswan
to take a train back uo Nile's bank.
You ride in a comfort of old
as in Agatha Christie's works.
Once more enjoying modern streets
until we leave Egypt behind.
