What did I ever do
To have a son like you
Blonde hair with eyes of blue
Strong willed
Kind heart
I do
Not understand why I
Was blessed it makes me cry
Bewildered by this tie
To heav'n
On earth
Through you
What a handsome young man, look how he is thinking! That expression is: I am in deep thought or watch your step! :)
I love my boys and I too am so blessed to have them. One very strongly independent, one very soft and loving like me. Both excellent fathers!
Lovely Jane, thank you for sharing a part of you with us.

I'm not seeing the blonde hair here, ha ha ~ but I am seeing the kind of adoration that makes a mother turn to pudding. It doesn't matter how old they are or get, does it? I like the way you handled the positions of the lines "Kind heart/I do" then roll them into '..do/Not understand". And spreading out "To heav'n/On earth/Through you" for me is a visual stretch of those words like an opening hand. Attributing child (adult or otherwise) as a tie is just a beautiful concept. Thanks for this little giant writing. ~~ Diana
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
