I live in a place surrounded by a lake, a marsh, and a lagoon. More goes on at the lagoon than people think.

Petals floating on the water Between lily pads Water bugs walking on the surface Sunlight reflecting Splish splash glimpse of playful otter Darting dragonflies Snails cleaning algae as their purpose Reeds genuflecting Turtles sun as day gets hotter On a floating log Buck drinking showing what his girth is Fish are inspecting So much hap'ning near the water In it, on it, and around Frogs and snakes hide, birds in the birches Nature respecting Jane Noponen Perinacci

I live a half mile from the nearest water and provide water for the birds. I miss the swamps of my youth, filled with life and not contaminated with junk, pollution, sewage, or pesticides.

You got me dreaming of those carefree days by the water.

"Reeds genuflecting" . . . Love that delightful and very descriptive line, Jane. The rest of the poem is a showcase of your considerable talent.
