We all prepare for what we see coming.

Poem Artwork

Near the waterfall
On the moss so thick
Let's sit for awhile
Carve your walking stick
Kind makes me smile

Gentle waterfall
Splashing on shale rocks
Then our eyes meet quick
The crow as he mocks
Carve that walking stick

Carved that walking stick
Need it later on
Pretty snakes and things
Shined it up real bright
Far the robin sings

I have reached the age where a walking stick is by my side everyday I venture out. Another great poem with its delightful look into tomorrow and having the Robin sing you a melody of the birds.

Nice poem that reminded me of when we climbed Mt. Fuji in Japan we were provided "Walking Sticks" that had notches and stamps to collect as you arrived at each station. When we got to the top we received a warm welcome by fellow climbers who had arrived. The saying goes, "One who climbs Mt. Fiji once is wise; twice is a fool!" Amen to that!

Unique in thoughts awakened; I find your walking stick very symbolic, Jane. Love and best wishes,

The symbol of a walker. Some walking sticks are sorely needed. Others are more ornamental and come in handy for whacking things. But your poem brings out another aspect. The carving of beautiful things. And the setting you picked for your poem is idyllic. I thought I heard a robin sing.

Hand me down,
my walking stick.
I'm just an old,
country hick.

Finally, you appear with your walking stick, and a finely carved one at that. A noble poem. John
