Immediately, after reading the title and not paying attention to your name, I thought of heroin… And then, a bit about the possibility of being kicked or thrown off a horse like Christopher Reeve. And then, when I saw your name as author, I thought of what you wrote me the other day of your grandchilds' friend.
Why so many fall for the high or try to remove some imagined or real pain, is beyond me. Why someone so talented, productive and long-lived as Ray Charles can be on horse his entire life while so many others, too numerous almost to to name, burned out their candles so young.
Reminds me of the time I attended the sad graduation of a friend's daughter. Her friend, a neighbor with epilepsy had, a week before, a seizure while swimming alone (something he shouldn't have done) and drowned. She felt personally responsible for not being there, swimming with him or watching like she had done so many times before.
I do hope your grandchildren are not permanently affected by what has happened and certainly know enough not to get involved with drugs of any kind.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss, so many young children lost to drugs and street violence, I wish there were a solution to this. Thankyou for sharing, my prayers are with the family. xo
Oh, no!!! This just breaks our hearts!!! Imagine what your grandchildren are going through mentally with the death of their friend. Please give your grandchildren big hugs for me.
