AND IF YOU HAVEN'T FORGIVEN THEM...'YOU' DON'T HAVE PEACE. BLESS YOU, JANE. THE POINT IS...NOT TO FORGET WHAT THEY'VE DONE BY LETTING THEM DO IT AGAIN, BUT TO FORGIVE THEM FOR WHAT THEY'VE DONE, LOOK FORWARD AND PRESS ON! STRENGTH AND BLESSINGS! She told you right! There are many variations, like count your blessings before you count your troubles and always looking at your cup as half-full rather than half empty. What a wasted emotion a bad attitude is! Gets in the way of all kinds of communication that can be beneficial and instructive. Like the card a girlfriend sent me once showing a mean looking monster being held back tied to a leash that was about to break with the admonition… "You can't hold a grudge!"
Now this is sound advice is there ever is one. Perhaps "gratitude" is the forgotten impulse, as you have cleverly noted here. Let's remember it and reap the blessings again. Gratitude for who we are, for life, for living. Thank you, Jane, for this timely reminder.
