I Felt a Feline Up Above
I felt a feline up above--
A carnival of fur--
With which my sense or lack thereof
Obligingly concurred--
It raced across and brushed my knee--
With silent pensive gaze--
While thrushes sang upon a tree
The songs of better days.
The trout danced inside a lake,
The sun was burning bright--
And I was perfectly awake
With jubilant delight.
This day was like no other day--
In verdant pageantry--
Like lavish landscapes of Monet
And poems of Emily.
And then I came to understand
The soul's furtive aim--
To light a candle on a stand
With everlasting flame.
