...damn junk food before sleep...

Poem Artwork

Bartering with the most meager of possessions,

Trying to travel south to the warmth,

Selling out friends for a taste of bottled water,

Not worried are we of past confessions…

Pets are now a food source,

A rich man you are if a dog you own,

Cannibalism runs rampant though not admitted,

For administering pain we have no remorse…

Recognized religions non-existent,

Christian lumped together with the Jew,

Prayer only to the god of a precious few,

Life in general mostly inconsistent…

No rapture nor did Christ return,

Lucky are the ones beyond recognition,

Their lives are over, their ashes in an urn,

Lawlessness, for death most do yearn…

Wow, Ed! This poem's an impressive, scary nightmare . . . yet so very well done! And the picture is awesome!

Now, this is scary, for death most do yearn, can't really blame 'em. Well written!

I agree with Kate! Perhaps a glass of wine will do fine;-)
This scenario though well written, and a possibility is one
to put to sleep...

Mad Max got nothin on you. What a dark and compelling vision. Glad at least right now it is a nighttime product of fast food rather than a daytime reality, but that day is certainly looming. Great write!

Sometimes, being dead is much better than alive and suffering.

A thought-provoking write, Ed!

The Dead Effect by Terry Vinson

Tales of The Zombie or for soap opera fans, perhaps 'Days of The Dead' might be more appropriate.
