...spotted a little Cherub, blowing a horn,...... on the edge of garden wall..

"Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins"....- Isaiah 58:1.
"Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high"....- Isaiah 58:4.

....incorporating the most empowering word.... NO, helped me to enjoy better quality of life, increased my sense of purpose, re-claimed right to my personal life, and made it................troublous.

Embrace the power

of a little word, say... NO

and set yourself....."free",

this tiny word saith,.... phrased out

loud,.... can strike of many fears.

Practise makes perfect,

start it simple, with firm... NO

to pushing shops sale,

then built up saying... NO... to

your partner, family, friends.........

So, what's the right way

to say...NO.., nicely, with grace?

To soften the blow

start with..."Thanks, for asking me"...

then politely, soft, ...."but NO"..

"I can't,.... but am sure

you have...enjoy.... great time here".....,

Keep it short and firm,

no half-hearted excusses

but... give others space to talk.

What?.... you said... you can't

because it's not nice

say NO.... to unwanted quest...

hurting the other person's

feelings,....and what about yours?

Get fresh breeze, ... say..... NOoooo...

to things you don't want, wish, have.

Get... bright beam  of light....

create a life space.... and time

for all.... you value, crave, seek.

Beautiful work, Isabella! Reading this poem makes it quite easy to say "no" when it is necessary.
Continued success-

Thank you John Michael for your words of incitement.

Mostly in an effort to fit in, natural desire to be liked and avoid

conflict...and because today's society and workplace expect us

to say "Yes" when inside we scream "No", we became part

of "silent spiral"; systematic silencing of differences.

Voicing differences is considered NOT being polite, graceful,

a "team player", good wife/partner, respectful kid, likable neighbor.

Not speaking up sends people on a spiral of destructive

emotions, making employee, wife/partner, kid, next door blonde,

feel their opinions are not valued, killing their creativity,

participation, and so often morals (work ethics).

So often, not giving feedback and silencing conflict (rather

then solving it) wrecks relationship, not speaking up

at a workplace (especially when it's Health Care System),

could be ( and much too often IS) of serious consequences.

So, it is time to go back to the basic... and learn,

it's OK to say NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Dear Isabella,

I really like this poetic piece.
It reminds me of the Biblical phrase, "Let your Yes's be Yes and your No's be No."

Amen!

We sure could all use the time and space you're talking about in this sweet little poem. It's hard to simplify one's life when new challenges come up every day sapping one's creative time and making life dismal rather than fun.
