A Summer Song
The cicadas are singing their mating song,
A cacophony of clicks and whirrs filling the air,
Day and night, night and day, Summer in Illinois.
A sound from my youth, as I raise up my windows,
To let in the cool air, a break from the heat.
But, something’s in the air tonight.
I don’t mean just a cool breeze and the sound of the cicadas.
Real change is blowing in.
Good or bad, I cannot say.
But, I feel it in my bones, deep within my being.
Something old is falling away, something new approaching.
Wait. Listen. Breathe in, breathe out.
It will all unfold in due time.
Welcome to the Den,and thanks for sharing.
