A Guantanamo Poem To My Father, James!
By Dr Patrick ODougherty, WAT, WitnessAgainstTorture
1986 was the year of my father’s passing
1986 I have been sending messages
To the heavenly mansions where my father lives.
O, Ariel, explain to those who visit our family Gladstone home.
How I used to live with my siblings in study and contentment.
I know your thoughts are in a turmoil
When I send the voice of Guantanamo prisoners in anguish.
Send sweet yams and peace to my father, James.
Life has divided us like a child I was as a new born.
Father, James, Guantanamo is a prison of cruelty and injustice.
The prisoners here have been sold like sheep on your Maple Lake farm. The gift you gave me in life, Christianity, I will not sell.
My companion in life is truth, the light, the Chrestus.
O’ God who is the center of the universe
Who brings hope and gladness.
Please Bring peace against a heart beating against oppression
Since 1986 the year of my attorney father, James, passing. Send the 40 remaining Guantanamo prisoners home to the heavenly mansion.1986-2020.
