A French verse form consisting of five three-line stanzas and a final quatrain, with the first and third lines of the first stanza repeating alternately in the following stanzas. These two refrain lines form the final couplet in the quatrain.

I'm reaching for you lying next to me

In the deep hours of dark and endless night
Just coolness where the warmth of you should be

I'm wanting you to come and set me free
Allow my fledgling heart to start its flight
I'm reaching for you lying next to me

But now there is just air where you should be
An emptiness lies with me through the night
Just coolness where the warmth of you should be

A thousand nights you fitted in to me
And where I didn't fit you made me right
I'm reaching for you lying next to me

It seems now something's missing here in me
A void of solid heart and  strength of might
Just coolness where the warmth of you should be

Please, longing, longing, Leave me! Let me be!
And see me through this yearning into light
I'm reaching for you lying next to me
Just coolness where the warmth of you should be

I can relate to the theme that you've shared through your verses here, Teresa. I am also impressed with your style here as it requires discipline of writing. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Superb, it is close to iambic pentameter, too.
Very skillful, indeed.

It tells the story of unrequited love, a pain that brings the music of life, to life.

A strong sense of longing for a lost love. Also a very common one.
