A Parent's Grief

With anti bullying at it's main core, this is the grief of a mother reaching out to the bystanders who did nothing to stop the bullying of her son.

Do you know what you have done?

You’ve cost the world my only son.

The boy in whom I was so proud,

the boy who stood out from the crowd

His strength of mind, it was so clear

yet you guys made him live in fear.

He was no jock, was that so wrong?

Because his body wasn’t strong.

I guess you thought that he was weak,

and called him names like gay and geek,

because of what he chose to wear,

with painted nails and dyed black hair.

He was so quiet, he hurt no-one.

I can’t believe that he is gone.

Simply because he didn’t fit

into your world. He wouldn’t submit

that he was worth less than you.

I guess he didn’t have a clue,

just how heartless some could be

to a spirit who felt free

to express himself, and to live.

There was so much more that he could give,

if he had been given the chance,

he could have taught the world to dance.

He wanted the world to know his dreams,

but now you’ve stopped them with your schemes.

The mental torment hurt him so much

that he felt so out of touch,

with a world he thought that hated him

and so with hope and choices slim.

He took his life before we knew,

exactly what he planned to do.

So in my grief, I want to share,

my thoughts, my feelings, but do you care?

You took away my pride and joy,

my wonderful, caring, loving boy.
