Ahhhh . . . "The Road Taken," indeed. I've taken many, many roads to arrive at the one I am on presently. Only one more road I need to travel and that is the "Time served" thoroughfare.
A road trip poem taking us to stations
of the gross. Lonesome highways overlooked
by bob dylan, meadows where poets catch
awful rhymes in cloudy jam jars
neon-lit country music bars, Willie Nelson's
not on tonight. We have bluegrass and Tex-Mex
tales of the southwest, and an Englishman
called Bowie whose cutting up newspapers
and getting a lot of milk and writing
weird limey verse.
The cactus men stand proud in the desert.
I hope we make a stop at D.H. Lawrence's
old ranch in Taos, is this the panhandle?
Flint Ridge, Arkansas, I guess!
Soon be in Oklahoma. It's kinda red.
