Guess WHO was watching the same emission ? for HE, too, proclaimed how he would love to be « a fly on the wall » just to listen to growls and growses in Democratic corridors of power on impeachment designs after the Senate Mueller hearings !!!

Odd, isn't it, Ron? I hitchhiked through West Germany in 1957, hoping to study under the Existentialist Heidegger in Freiburg, but settled down in Heidelberg where Gadamer, the Hegel authority, would not accept my doing a "logical positivism" thesis. In fact, I picked up German by just conversing with other students, and so "Ich behercher nicht die Grammatik." Funny thing, though, all up and down the Rhine and Bad-Württemburg, Germans thought I was a prisoner-of-war returning home. I worked on a farm near Nürremberg and as a forester's assistant in the Black Forest, but most of the time, I starved. All my experiences then I re-recalled and re-shaped in a novel: Ice in my eyes, Smoke in yours. I kept commuting between London and Heidelberg and Berlin when I found better work with the Americans, first as a USREUR HQ "courrier" and then as an instructor at the forces' Maryland University and as a private tutor and translator in English to some rather important people. I really loved being among Germans until I had a very unfortunate experience with some people, including foreigners there, and my whole life simply went wrong once and for always. Only compensation, I began publishing my work in Heidelberg and Frankfurt… Thought you might want to know this as a German, yourself.
I am mostly German heritage but no little of the German language or even the medieval German love of the shapely English Queen. Your knowledge of things current and past is outstanding!
