HE STARTED DREAMING

Photograph taken by, Theresa Jodray in Moose Creek, Alaska

Poem Artwork

The northern icy wind howled happily
As the cloaked man hurried through
Woods on both sides and a blanket of snow
Making the journey seem much to impossible

Honey and tea seemed to dance in his thoughts
As the wind made the tree branches groan
Wolves in the distance sang eerily an ancient song
Snow swirling about seemed to taunt him a bit

As he picked up the tool of the trade
Gloves on his hands helped for this task
As he cleared the path Mother Nature hadn’t made
Maybe the long, cold winter soon would pass

He then turned to scan his little cabin at last
Cold and so bitter to those who might pass
This chilling frozen wooded state stood alone
But Alaska is where he’d spend his days

Setting his gloves and cape close to the fire
He knew himself he needed to get a bit dryer
Tea now in hand he set down by the roaring fire
Life in these woods could make a man tired

Satisfaction came in and he felt quite pleased
This was the place of a younger mans dreams
Wolves in the distance confirmed inner feelings
The fire cracked louder sighing he started dreaming
