While sitting alone in my thoughts one day, I came to the realization that I had truly lost one of my sons and our family was broken and would never be the same again.

Now There is One

You were the second of two sons which god sent me a short time ago.

He wanted me to nurture you for he wanted you to grow.

So I fed you with a silver spoon and I taught you wrong from right.

I wiped away your every tear and tucked you in at night.

I listened when you spoke to me and I heard your every whim.

I recognized your many faults yet love you to no end.

You grew in body, spirit and mind to become a gentle man.

You left your mark of kindness, spread wide throughout the land.

Then God one day in his wisdom said, your work down here is done.

It’s time for you to leave this place, so with me now you must come.

He gently took you by the hand and led you with his grace.

To his home up in the sky; now your final resting place.

The love I have in my heart for you is more precious than pure gold,

And though I loved you more than life itself, Jesus loved you more.

Yes you were my little blessing; the second of two sons.

Then God saw fit to take you back, but in his mercy, left me one.
