My late sons' birthday is April 28th and after all this time has passed I still miss him so very much. This is a short poem I had written on his birthday last year while thoughts of him were so heavy on my mind but of course he was not here in the flesh for me to wish him a Happy Birthday.
Happy Heavenly Birthday son,
Another year gone by.
I can't believe it has been this long,
Since we bid our last good-bye.
So God is giving you a party?
In His Celestial home?
Oh what a happy, joyous celebration,
On the streets made out of gold!
I guess making out the list,
Was not very difficult to do.
Didn't have to remember many names,
Cause God already knew.
I know my Mom and Dad are there,
I am so glad they came.
I can see them now as clear as day,
Singing praises to His name.
I see God also invited your Aunt K.P.
Oh what unspeakable joy!.
When she arrives give her a great big kiss,
And tell her it's from me.
I see Uncles Syl, Ben and Don are also on the list.
Be sure and kiss them for me too,
And tell them they've been missed!
Well son enjoy your Heavenly birthday party,
I am still a little sad.
But this is the day He gave you life,
So I will rejoice and be glad.
The rain drops you feel are just my tears,
Which right now I cannot contain.
But I know in time I will see you again,
And my peace I will regain!
Dear Gloria, I don't review or even read a whole lot, but I started looking through the Authors' page which led me to read some of your work. You have my deepest condolences in the tragedies that have occurred in your family.
Your poems touch my heart. I have a special place inside for those who suffer loss of a loved one. To lose one as you have is so, so hard. Because of my feelings of compassion for those who suffer loss, I have written some poems that I hope will comfort those who grieve.
I find it hard to believe that I see no reviews on your touching writings. May God bless you and your family and give you joy in place of mourning.
