I never saw you coming, I even played it down.
You grew stronger among us, without making a sound.
Hidden away in a touch or a kiss, dancing between us, smiling with bliss.
From country to country you showed your intent.
Rejoicing when reaching the next continent.
Invisible in stature COVID-19.
Rubbing your hands as you plot and you scheme.
I sit quietly in silence, pen in hand.
Memories could be made but disappear in the sand.
What was your intention setting out at the start?
Who gave you permission to keep loved ones apart!
Your quest may be brutal but can’t last forever.
The more you dig in we'll fight you together!
3 weeks, 3 months, lockdown may be long.
Listen now coronavirus, you’ll never stop our song!
People the world over can relate to your poem. How something invisible could have such an overwhelming presence on the planet and use what makes us strong against us, being with our fellow humans. No, it will not stop our song. I think it has made us sing all the louder.
