Too much life, and not enough me. But for the moment I shall endulge myself on the words penned by others. It will be great to relax and read the words of some of my favorite writers.

Poem Artwork

The Hunger within Me

I seek not to fill myself with nutrition

gained from utensils laden of meal

these shall never fill stomachs hollow

or lay to rest my hunger’s pain

deliver me forever from thoughts of longing

nor grant me one mere restful night of sleep

The depths of my soul are insatiable

where only memories dare to please

falling short of their endeavors

creating voids that wonder fails to fill

self torture the only outcome

feelings becoming the beast of remembrance

Malnourished is the need within me

craving is this heart’s desire

vacant has become love’s staircase

pillaged are dreams once set upon the rails

steps recessed from the ghosts that traveled

to minds bedroom with echoing walls

Thoughts of misty moonlit kisses

graced softly across savored neck and cheeks

lips filled with passionate fire and tenderness

eye’s cavernous depths to fall within

laughter delivering to heart a state of felicity

all now yet plundered by the ages of time

The cool breeze that invaded windows

drying beads of satisfactions sweat

causing candles radiance to dance and flicker

satin sheets cooling to ones movement or touch

limbs of together wrapped in pleasure

paused moments to explore the deuce of thoughts

What can free me from this biting hunger

lingering forever in memories well

one cannot see the world of truth

lest seen through the eyes of others

no one can ever understand of feelings

till they dare grasp what others feel

Forever does reflect tomorrow

because both shall never come

to hunger is often ones own destiny

for but a moment in space and time

when all was filled with splendor

leaving traces upon heart and mind

When I read poetry, I like to read words that make me feel....and this piece, written so well, did that. Sensitive, quietly powerful and beautiful.

Heart's longing for a love that once filled its every molecule...how sad it is and how empty it all feels. It seems that each of us are given the opportunity to know the true depth of love and many of us are left to feel the empty longings, once it leaves us. It is a personal growth that we all hoped we would never have to know. Wonderful, expressive pen, TD. I love/hate this.
Take care,
Sherry

The second stanza is my favorite, maybe because it reminded me of the feelings I expressed in my poem "Trying to be Whole"...

Phillip, Your words penetrate through to my soul. Your passion and pain evoke memories of past feelings that have lived deeply within my wounded heart. You make me feel again, and it feels good.
Thank you for this deeply moving poem.
Peace, love, and light,
