They say he loved her more than life itself

And life claimed his love in shame

They say his teardrops brought the tide

As he called out her name in vain

They say the light in her went out that night

While the sea gulls all but disappeared

For the next day they found his broken body

On the beach below that they once shared

They say a grieving lady in widow’s black

Each night walked those cliffs alone

They say she drew no comfort in the surf

Where some haunted spirits often roam

They say in the wind you’ll hear her crying

One day her pain became too much to bear

They say her body was found in the same spot

Where death claimed him the previous year

They say if you look on that date

In the clouds above that’s what they say

You’ll see the lover’s in warm embrace
