~Cloak of Darkness ~

Under cover of darkness

in the encompassing cocoon of night

you stand naked as all subterfuge is shed

to face the truths that come to light

~~

For those who are in love

the night holds passion and romance

when the air is saturated with magic

and lovers complete their erotic dance

~~

 The lonely run to hide

their fears and pain in sleep

knowing when the morning comes

their illusions they will try to keep

~~

When your love and dreams fail

nighttime only magnifies the loss

long hours when sleep cleverly evades

as you keep reliving the emotional cost

~~

If death cuts short a loved ones life

the night allows fanciful escapes

and we keep searching for them in dreams

as night covers us like a cape

~~

For some the night is soft and warm

for others it’s lonely and long

as the night embraces each of us

we move to the rhythms of our own songs

~~

Very insightful, beautifully written Carole!
I love the wisdom of the last verse, especially

"we move to the rhythms of our own songs"

we do well to remember this...

Love,
Eileen
