I wrote this in one of my more melancholy moments and had no intention of posting it, but what the hell...I'm fine now (he lied knowingly) lol

A Life Going Nowhere

I used to be happy once

not anymore,

sat in lonely isolation

behind a closed door.

Watching dust float in vivid light,

Settling on what might have been.

A potential wasted never to be seen.

So I look for solace in distant friends

and chat about troubles

but the loneliness just doubles

when the conversation ends.

You’d have thought I learnt by now

no one has the answers

Yet someone, somewhere, somehow…

Could mend a broken heart

help me make a fresh start

and make me happy

once again.

Oh my meloncholy man. Sadness and emptyness just oozes from this write. I just got my 'second wind' after a major blue funk. These times help us to examine ourselves. And if we've 'stifled' the tears, it allows them to flow for blessed release. I know that in my circumstance, I've got to be strong because there is no one else to help carry the load. Not on the earthly plain at any rate. I have what I call a 'once a year pity party' where I indulge my self-absorption and sadness. After its done, I'm back to business...

And the wheel of fortune turns and turns and where it will stop nobody knows. The wheel of life is turned by ourselves and when it stops we can get off and change direction but all wheels need to be attached to something for them to work. You can find the missing part in your wheel sometimes when you least expect it.

Yeah, but maybe if we watch the dust long enough we'll see little people in it and they will start entertaining us...seriously...I know the meloncholy feelings all too well.

Know any song publishers in Nashville? I'm not a big country music enthusiast, however I see potential in this Paul. Put on your stamina suit and query it; who knows?

Thank you for all for your kind words and understanding,it's nice to know that you are all there and care. I'm ok now really, got my second wind (or should that be got wind? lol). It's so true once you've hit rock bottom the only way is up...ok, we still slip backwards occasionally but at least it's going in a positive direction that counts. Loved the link Nordette it really made my day, Thank You.

Bless you all AD family

Melancholy and very sad, indeed - but a fine poem none the less, Paul.

Eh, C'mon, Buddy!! This don't sound like a former Orifice of Her Majesty's Armed Forces speakin!! But it IS real and each one of us can relate at one level or another... I could disappear behind my computer screen completely and have to FORCE myself back out into community again - but, when I do, I realise it's not such a bad place to be; just finding the time to fit it all in is difficult. A sense of purpose, as of course you fully know and understand, makes everything worthwhile; we look for it in faith or in people or in a job or in everything. But faith in the reality and significance of our own existance is a foundation to be built on and, for me, that is to be found in the knowledge of how God feels about me and His reasons for putting me here. But, in the meantime, here we all are with our cyber group-hug thing goin on... how can you not LOVE Nordette??!! Isn't she just knockout??!! ... Just her techo wizziness, apart from her vibrant life and character. Just one teensy peek into the window of her soul is enough to CREATE a world within a world and to take us out of ours... And in the words of good ol' James Taylor, "You Gotta Friend"... loads of us... now we're suffocatin you...!! :)) LOL Kate xx

A deeply moving write like a song from the dark side of the moon, brooding, seductive, and beautiful.
