Every Poet's Birthday Poem

Poem Artwork

The poem, IN REGARD TO A POET’S BIRTHDAY, was originally composed to honor the life and work of the celebrated composer, poet, novelist, educator, minister, and psychologist, Ja Jahannes. However, as tends to happen with poems about poets, I later realized that much of it is applicable to the lives of poets in general. Therefore, when invited to post some original works on the EXPOSE’D web site, I included IN REGARD TO A POET’S BIRTHDAY as a celebration of all poets’ lives and invite you to read it by clicking on or pasting the following link:

http://www.exposweb.net/ExposedWebPages/Aberjhani/Poetry/In_Regard.html

.

Because so many were gracious enough to acknowledge my birthday it seems only fitting that I return the honor.

IT IS GOOD FOR ANY OCCASION. I think that Poseidon would love to listen to Euterpia reciting this bountiful beauty.

It is always an enriching privilege to dive in
Your verses through the Ocean of Your Poetry.

“In Regard to a Poet’s Birthday” lights a scented
candle of creative stimulation with aroma
of wisdom reviving the Major Art.

In gratitude and reverent admiration.

Once, inside a net

crusted over with indigo pearls

I caught a thousand crystal echoes

of gnostics sailing their souls

across an ocean

of overheated eternity

and to this day I funnel

that fire through silvered tongue

and goldplated cells.
~~~ This is quite unique, as is your style Aberjhani!
A gem to treasure and savorrr!
Well Nordy finally kicked my arse enough times to get me here. I just don't get around AD enough these days.
Loved the poem, it is as smooth as that icing of cognac and kindness. I have not had birthdays for nearly twenty years but I might just let upfor a slice of this birthday cake.
One design point, try making your table borders wider. Set the border colour same as the background colour and the border thickness at two or three. That will save picky types like me having to wonder what scrusted means :-)
best,
Ian
Aberjhani,
Sometimes after reading your work I sit and stare at the screen because your work is that good and I honestly don't know what to say, other than I am thrilled to read your work...seriously! You deserve all of the accolades you receive and so much more! You truly are a gift to the Art!
Soulsinger, your words are the nectar for the butterfly; stardust for the heavens; beauty for the mirror; music for the spirit.
I've created a file just for your work. But I have a feeling I am going to need a four drawer file cabinet before long.
I absolutely love your style, Soulsinger. You shine. You shine real bright.
Big Hugs,
~Mari
Flippin'eck!! You are a wordsmith of purest gold encrusted with the world's finest jewels, Aberjhani! Oh to spend a day inside your mind - 'twould be an eternity that one could feast on forever. Of "In Regard to a Poet's Birthday": 1st stanza could dine out on for a month... "or a single syllable shock like a baptism": piece de resistance! Of "Coffee Morning Rhapsody": "the silk music of our nudity"; "stars breathe themselves to life inside your hair and laughter"; "This brew is heady and the danger soothing. This peace: is fragile". I am undone. What I purpose to write as poetry feels like an old-English Heavy Horse in the midst of your highly-schooled, dancing Austrian Lippizaners. To say you are gifted is a total understatement. Speechless - awed and very, very appreciative. LOL Kate xx
Dear Aberjhani,
Like fine wine your words intoxicate, I am speechless !
The years whistle best
in their own unruly meter.
Like flawlessly planned
intentions
not all of their lines
have agreed to rhyme.---> and so we learn.
Aberjhani,
This, Sir, is Poetry at its best! A most beautiful Gift you've been blessed with...nay, let me correct myself. WE are blessed for having read your words--thank you.
"....If life is a birthday cake
let my face be smeared
with its icing of cognac and kindness
Inside the flickering
of a candle's bright laughter
let me breathe a scent of themes
well chosen and well loved." <----BRILLIANT!
(And trust me, your words are well chosen...AND well loved.)
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)
Okay I will be different and be the naughty one to
say I like this part most!!
"Funny how a mountain
can sing like a choir or a
single syllable shock like a baptism.
Gifts of hope and horror washed clean
in a lake of platinum ages."
Wonderful poem, Aberjhani! I love the last stanza - full of hope for the coming celebrated year! A very positive, inspiring, merry write. "Coffee Motning Rhapsody" is also beautiful - so full soul and heat! I love it!
God bless, Aberjhani!
