Whatever the distant oceans we stream to, the river always carries specks of the land where the source is. But we should never feel dammed, and, like in the movie "Out of Africa", sometimes we simply must "let the water go to Mombaza". This is an awesome write of many longings, Linda... and the picture posted with it, as well as the first two stanzas, were what irresistibly "diverted" my interpretation's imagery from the evolving one you used along the following outstanding lines.

As the rivers roll and the engine puffs it last breath, this phantom will always be with you riding the rails of no regret. Stupendous.
