Inspired by Davy Spillane's "A Place Among The Stones"...
Sunset has come
The day's work done
Warriors and Pilgrims
have laid down arms
Surrendered the drum
to the cold, silent ground
They have joined
the billions of stars-Stones
that bear the weight
of our existance
Gleaned from fields
and seas of foam
Stones of Destiny
that hold life's meaning
weightless in their Souls
Now they watch for fires
on the Hill of Tara
Now they wait
for the beat of the drum
and the roar of the lion
Linda-You say you are just a country girl, but your poem has depth and meaning- and is beautifully written, Congratulations for a job well done - Sincerely Beryl
I love the poetry here--almost a hymn--in the warrior's
return from war, and the restlessnes of anticipating the
next battle. Beautifully written, Linda. -gene.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.

Metaphysical and richly poetic, seeing into the heart of things, the inner truths.
