Poem Artwork

To seize a satisfying existence,
A first cause for all being we must face.
The religious believe their Bibles—
“God created using nothing as a base.”

Scientists claim they’ve found the first instant
When the universe popped forth from naught.
They’ve called this explosion The Big Bang,
Though its cause has left them distraught
For
It seems to have burst forth from nothing;
For certain, a non scientific thought.

To clutch a purposeful existence,
On a final cause for being we must dwell.
What follows death makes a difference;
We will each need our own holding cell.

Science buries us under the dirt—
The Bible in Heaven or in Hell!

Nicely done Rege. An enjoyable read. Though I’m not a “believer,” I’ve been exposed to the teachings. Guess I wouldn’t consider my non belief strong enough to call myself an atheist, but at the very least I’m a serious doubter. On the other hand, infinity is hard to wrap my brain around too. There must have been “something” for a beginning to have occurred, but it’s been argued by men much wiser than myself, and it still isn’t resolved to any kind of a consensus.

Thanks Dick

Still Living on my Feet by Tichaona Chinyelu

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
