They ride away
from the
cabin
in
their
furs.
Wolves,
Arctic/Timber/Akita
pull a
sled
carrying two
women
and a wooden
keg filled
with
Fetzer Chardonnay.
They are
loving
snowbound
today.
She snaps off
cedar
branches,
while the
other
lays pine
branches
for a
bed,
the wolves,
each
emotionally
attached
to the
sled.
They cover
their
snowbed
with
fox
pelts.
They light
sage branches
with a
kerosene
rag-soaked
torch.
It is
their
preference
to lie
down.
Like the
wolves,
they are
spirits
of
freedom,
here to
share one
last
brisk
winter.
In harmony
and
discipline,
they ride
away
from
their
snowbed
in their
furs.
Wolves,
Arctic/Timber/Akita
pull a
sled,
carrying
a
casket
and an
empty
wooden
keg.
Her lover
stands
in her
mourning
blanket
robe.
Funeral
burying
snowbound
today.

I see the aching in each line and yet the beautiful simplicity of the wolves and life. Even in pain there is beauty.
Thanks for your wisdom and insight.
