kids all wanna dance,
preacher says "no,
it's immoral,
write your Bible verses
under the laurel,"

they give him a
respectful glance,
then take a rebellious
stance,

sun goes down
music beats the
hell outta town,

no disdain,
it's called footloose,
get down, it's soul
train,

everybody, everybody
cut footloose, put on
your dancin' shoes,

preacher closes the
hall, "Saturday Night
Fever is Satan's call,"

don't look at it as
an evil return of
events, blood
and payback
dents,

drunk driver
careens into
preacher, wife
dies, preacher
freed by jaws
of life,

many months of
rehabilitation, doc
says boogie,
kids roll preacher
in wheelchair to
the dancefloor,
prosthesis he
wears gets rhythm,

kick off your
Sunday shoes,

Everybody cut
Footloose!

A great walk down memory lane. Hard to believe that some think it's a 'sin' to enjoy yourself by dancing and singing...

I always liked this movie, and the idea that some jesus freak might try to stop music...I guess that I would get arrested as I would be crankingn up some KISS (Kids In Satans Service,LOL) or Hendrix or something like OZZY just to sound like the devil incarnate...

nice energy herein, sage!
the universe is music incarnate & no amount of preaching, from any source, can alter that law of creation.
always a pleasure, poetess,
carolyn

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.
