Manger Fire

a secret passage from the church
down the dark hallway, she
pressed her hands to the
wall mounted cross,

a stairwell
with 27 wooden
stairs descended
to the horse bay, straw
smelled of Rose of Sharon,

a beautiful woman dressed
in jodhpurs seconds after
she stripped her white
collar and habit,

a stable door
opened into a golden
ray of light, horse blinders
shielded the damnable,

a pasture of wild clover seduced an
outing of spectacular flames, the
manger fire burned holy magic,
an alchemical cross
resurrected from
the flames,

another woman
witnessed the outing,
she said the match was
Christ Sulfur born from the
Eucharist,

she rose from the pastor's thighs,
manger fire she spread wider,
pastor pushed her head
down harder, My God,
the horse blinders
are coming off!

Whether this is controversial to the "Christian?" population, or not, it speaks devilish truth of St. Elmo's Fire. The surreal feel of the hand on the wall opening a secret doorway leading to a stable, to the rising from the pastor's thighs, takes the reader on a journey through mind and matter that is not real. Thank you, Sister Sage, for sharing this.

Love & hugs,
Barbie

This certainly gives me pause for reflection, Sage; bearing in mind that I was an altar boy as a child and my parents insisted on all of us attending Catholic services as often as possible. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Regis

...there's something of an Alice in Wonderland dimension here, Sage, but with much richer connotation and impact...opening into "a golden ray of light" and that fabled motif of fire and flame.

Definately could be construed at very least as controversial and at the most as blasphemous either way definately paints some sharp images for the reader to digest.

GOD BLESS YOU

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson
