Ever wonder how difficult it would be to live without our arms and hands? It's easy to forget how magnificently designed we are indeed.

Thank God we have arms and hands For they are designed all so grand With hands we can make things, from big ships to little toys We can also hug children and rock to sleep baby girls and boys We can draw a picture, paint a portrait or take a photo and hang it on a wall We can make oatmeal, pancakes, pizza or spaghetti with some spicy meat balls With our fingers our hands can pick up boulders and fine grains of sand Many buildings were built from bricks and plaster mixed and made with hands We can use our hands to play a piano, cello, flute, electric guitar and many things We can drive a big truck, race a sports car or learn to fly a machine with wings With our arms and hands we can reach out and extend to others a loving touch We can hug our family and friends so let's be thankful for God has given us so much! I lost the use of my hands and fingers to paralysis 50 years ago. Remarkably, I could still do some of the things you describe quite well without them by using other muscles like my wrist function. I could pick up a small boulder with both arms, pick up a pebble with both hands, but I couldn't pick up a grain of sand unless I made it wet so that it would stick to my finger. I focused on what I could do, and excelled with that.

I was one of the first to buy an iPad for my caregiver/partner. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use all those wonderful features on the touchscreen. I am working on some workarounds, like the dictation system I'm using to write prodigiously here instead of laboring to type badly one finger at a time.

I couldn't be doing what I'm doing, without thousands of years of development from mind to hand creation leading to the wonderful "just-in-time technologies" that I use today to overcome the loss of my arms, hands, fingers, legs, and feet. It's a wonderful world we live in. Quite a heaven on earth. Now all of us who are experiencing this heaven, need to make it possible for everyone on the planet. No small task for busy hands and busier minds.
